Do you have a child who plays sports and needs a physical? A sports physical is performed to identify any underlying health conditions, potential risks, and determine if your child can safely participate in sports. Please have the physical form completed by the parent or guardian before your visit including the medical history section. Remember this physical is to determine if your child can safely participate in sports and is not intended to replace annual wellness exams completed by your child’s pediatrician.
Department of Transportation physicals also known as DOT physicals, are medical examinations required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for commercial motor vehicle drivers (CMV). These exams ensure that CMV drivers meet specific health and safety standards to operate commercial vehicles safely over the road. Drives are required to have a medical examination completed by certified medical examiners listed on the FMCSA’s National Registry. A DOT physical exam is valid for up to 24 months. The medical examiner may also issue a medical certificate for less than 24 months depending on certain medical conditions.
An annual physical exam also known as routine physical is performed to evaluate your overall health and identify risk factors. This exam focuses on preventative care. During an annual physical the provider typically reviews medical history, assesses current health status, and conducts a physical exam. This exam includes taking vital signs, BMI, measurements, and blood work. We know life can get busy, but it is recommended that you have annual wellness exams performed yearly by a healthcare provider.
